Performance «The Mirror».
One Gesture Performance.
The main material in this performance is not the artist's body, but his reflection. This performance is part of a series of works where the reflection or trace of the body is more important than the presence of the author himself. All the author's actions are aimed at transforming, deforming, shaping or finding a reflection, a trace of his own body.
The earth covers the plane of the mirror, forming a black circle, a surface that absorbs light, changing the position of the mirror in space reveals its true potential and changes its meaning. When the earth falls down, the surface that forms the trace of the author in the reflection and on the ground is revealed. The ground acts as a barrier. In the reflection I see the viewer, and the viewer sees me, the intersection of views and reflections is the only way of communication.
At the intersection of rational cognition of the world and mythological cognition of the world, the following questions arise:
Is reflection a reality or an extension of reality?
Am I the self or the double, the mask that I want to reveal to the world?
Communication takes place on a different plane, between my double and the viewer. Am I seeing the viewer or the double?
The basis for variations of meanings and perceptions of the artistic gesture is mythology, superstition, folklore around rituals using mirror surfaces, perception and interaction with one's own reflection.
This gesture appeals to mythological cognition of the world, using the mirror as an instrument of self-discovery. To know your reflection = to know your soul.
Addendum: In some viewers the performance provoked a reflection on mortality (viewer's position).
This is the only performance I have repeated three times.
